Wamsutta Family Update 04/13/2018
Posted on 04/13/2018
Good morning, Wamsutta Families.  We have gotten through the first wave of online testing, and our students (and our computers) did not let us down.  We have a one-week break and then we’re back at testing, and I will keep the dates running at the end of this update until we are done.
Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  Just one thing on paper this week and it’s a big one.  All the students had a brief meeting today about our Color Run, scheduled for after school on Friday, May 11.  This has been both a well-attended and fun fundraiser for us over the past two years, and we hope to duplicate that success this year. While the paper envelope can be used for registration, we highly recommend doing it online.  You can find everything you need at http://shop.schoolathon.org/EventIndex.asp?EID=190100.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Please note that the flyer says registration must be completed by April 23rd, and this is incorrect.  We will accept registrations until May 4.
For our attachments, we have information on the Third Annual AHS Mattress Fundraiser to benefit the AHS Music Department, the Northeast vs. Generals/New England Sports Village, and Butler Gymnastics Summer Programs.
  1. At Friday, April 27th we will be kicking off our Choose H2O campaign with the students.  This healthy living initiative would not be possible without the help of many community partners.  To help gauge the success of this initiative, I am asking families to please fill out the following survey:  https://goo.gl/Zn5CUV.  I am thankful for the 25 folks who already took the survey.  We hope to get responses from 100 families to get a true picture of our students’ beverage habits.  We are fortunate to be installing five brand new water bottle filling stations donated to us by our partners, and participation in the survey will help us stay in the good graces of those who are working to provide healthy choices for our students.
  2. We will be hosting ASEPAC for their monthly meeting on April 25th at 6:30.  In addition to hosting their monthly meetings this year, we are lucky to be hosting ASEPAC’s 2nd annual Abilities Fair for our 5th graders on Friday, May 18th.  This programming is designed to increase awareness and acceptance of both disabilities and inclusion.  We will need volunteers for this event to ensure its success.  Please see attached for information.
  3. MCAS Upcoming Dates:
Grade 6 and 7 ELA:Wednesday and Thursday, April 25 and 26
Grade 5 and 8 Math:Tuesday and Wednesday, May 1 and 2
Grade 6 and 7 Math:Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8 and 9
