Wamsutta Family Update December 21, 2019

Wamsutta Family Update December 21, 2018
Posted on 12/21/2018

Good morning, Wamsutta families.  We started our day with a little staff breakfast that we are so thankful to the PTO for providing.  We are trying to keep things festive for the students by distributing Feinstein Jr. Scholar Cards, Honor Roll Certificates, and Raffle Tickets for our 8th grade basketball game in Homerooms.  We will end our day with ice cream sundaes in the cafeteria for all students.  We hope it sends the students home for break with positive feelings about our school community and a bit of Holiday joy.

Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  Nothing on paper except what was mentioned above.  I have a field hockey notice from SAGRA attached, and I have also included the Tinker and Create Flyer for 7th and 8th grade students and a notice about our Family Comedy and Magic Night again for your reference.  We still have a few spots in the Tinker and Create Animation Course after school and will extend the time to sign up until Thursday, January 3rd.

  1. The 14th Annual 8th Grade Students vs. Faculty and Friends Basketball Game will be held on Friday, February 1st. Immediately following the game the PTO will be raffling 2 items; a Swagtron Hoverboard with Bluetooth speakers and a SCUF Elite Wireless X-Box Remote Controller. This afternoon each student will bring home 2 books of raffle tickets. The stubs must be returned to school in the envelope provided. The stubs will be tallied and the student who sells the most tickets will win a gift card of his/her choice. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit all of the Wamsutta students. The deadline to return the stubs is Wednesday, January 30th.
  2. Science teachers distributed information for the Curiosity Challenge to students this week.  We have had many entries into this contest over the years and more than a few winners.  More info can be found here:  https://www.cambridgesciencefestival.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/CSF19_CCflyerFinal.pdf
  3. I hate to do this reminder on the eve of the Holidays, but I would like to remind everyone that the pick-up and drop-off procedures are posted on our website and we ask that you adhere to them at all times.  I would also ask that we all take a breath and slow down a bit when driving around the school.  Some cars are going too fast in and around buses (some even past the red flashing lights!) and students.  An extra 30 seconds of your time could help to increase the safety of our students.  The child you may avoid injuring may be your own.  Please be cognizant of your driving habits.
