Principal's Welcome Message

Principal Connor Welcomes Back Staff and Students

August 19, 2016

Dear Wamsutta Students and Families:

On behalf of the staff of Wamsutta Middle School, welcome back for the 2016-2017 school year!  After a summer of planning, we are ready and excited to see the students return for their first day on Thursday, September 1stAlthough the budget situation over the past few months has been trying for our schools, we have assembled a team of educators dedicated to engaging and challenging every student who will be ready to provide them with what they need to succeed.  In the upper right hand corner of this letter is the homeroom assignment for all students.  Students in grades 6-8 should report to this room by 7:50 to begin the year.  Students in grade 5 will report to our Gym by 7:50 to be escorted to their homerooms by their teachers.  Regardless of your student’s grade, all of our staff will be present in the hallways and driveways to ensure every student gets to where they need to be for a successful start.  Once every student is settled in the appropriate homerooms, final schedules for students will be distributed.

In addition to student schedules, several important forms will be distributed on the first day.  Please help us keep our records up to date by filling them out completely and returning them to the homeroom teacher in a timely fashion.  Of vital importance is the “Student Emergency Information” form (this will be on yellow paper) that ensures we know how best to reach you.  This will be crucial not only for emergencies, but for our ability to communicate with families in general.  As we move towards more and more electronic communication, your email address is particularly important to update.

Included with this letter is Superintendent David Sawyer’s welcome letter, the school supply list (reverse of this letter) and a map of the school with directions for parent pick-up and drop-off.  With the recent changes to district policies surrounding transportation, we are expecting more walkers and more families transporting students themselves.  As a result, it is vital that the procedures described for pick-up and drop-off are adhered to by all families.

Finally, below are some important dates and information on student planners:
