Wamsutta Family Update 9.22.17
Posted on 09/22/2017

Good morning, Wamsutta Families.  I have lots of information again for you this week.

  1. Backpack Alert:  Two flyers from Lifetouch and a reminder about our Curriculum Night were sent home with all students today.  The reminder about our Curriculum Night states the following:

Please join us for our Curriculum Night / Open House on Wednesday.  Grade 5 families will start in the café at 6 PM, while families of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will begin in their child’s homeroom.  This evening is designed for parents and guardians, and space limitations require us to ask that you leave your children at home.  However, we truly wish to see as many parents and guardians as we can, so do not hesitate to bring children if child care is a barrier to your attendance.  A more detailed agenda will be emailed home.  We hope to see everyone!

The more detailed agenda is attached.  Let me know if you have any questions.

  1. Wamsutta will be having a Book Fair next week from September 25 through the 29th, with an evening event during Curriculum Night on Wednesday, September 27 from 6-8pm.  Your child/children will attend the fair during their regular library time.  You can also access the fair online at www.scholastic.com/fair (select MA, then Attleboro, then Wamsutta).  Cash, cards and checks (made out to Wamsutta PTO) will all be accepted.
  1. The PTO has worked hard to provide families easy avenues to help support student programming here at WMS.  The BoxTops Program and Amazon Smile programs are outlined here, and the Stop and Shop Program is attached.
  • Welcome back to school, parents! My name is Krystal Brown and I’m thrilled to be our school’s Box Tops for Education™ Coordinator.   Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school. Each one is worth 10¢ for our school! Just look for the pink Box Tops on hundreds of products. All you have to do is clip them, place them in a bag with your child's homeroom number and send them to school.  When you are clipping, please be aware that Box Tops for Education™ do have expiration dates printed on them and do not send in expired BoxTops.  For more information on Box Tops, including a list of participating products, go to BTFE.com.   If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at krystalpetebrown@yahoo.com. I’m here to help make our school’s Box Tops for Education™ program a huge success this year.
  • For those families that use Amazon for online shopping, we are registered for Amazon Smile.  Like registering your Stop and Shop Card to get our school benefits for shopping the way you normally do with the A+ school rewards program (see attachment), Amazon Smile rewards Wamsutta Middle School for registering us as your charitable organization of choice and then shopping as you normally do.  Please consider it.  See smile.amazon.com/ch/20-0697118 for details.  Thank you for those that have registered us for Amazon Smile rewards and thank you in advance for those that will.
  1. REPEAT NOTICE:  We are fortunate to be hosting most of the Attleboro Special Education Parent Advisory Council meetings this year.  If you have a child receiving IEP services, the ASEPAC is a great resource.  The first meeting will be held on Thursday, September 28th in the WMS Library at 6:30.  I hope to see you there.
  1. REPEAT NOTICE:  The PTO’s 8th Grade Subcommittee’s first meeting will be Wednesday, October 4th at 6 PM here in our Library.  The many activities we offer our 8th grade students (Lock-in, Basketball Game, Canobie Lake Trip, Social) do not happen without our dedicated 8th grade teachers and significant family support.  Please join Mr. Lamore if you can help.
  1. REPEAT NOTICE:  School Picture Day will be held on September 27th.  If you misplaced the flyer, you can go to mylifetouch.com and enter picture day ID MV227008Q0 to do your ordering.  We also have a few flyers left over in the office should you need to do it on paper.  Call the main office for help should you need it.
  1. REPEAT NOTICE:  The first District Travel Meeting will be Tuesday, October 3rd at 6:30 PM at Attleboro High School.  More specifics can be found in the attachments.

Lastly, I have attachments from our community partners the Chaminade Music Club, Titans Youth Lacrosse, and the Greater Attleboro Recovery Network.

I hope the wind and rain go away soon.  Have a good weekend and I hope to see everyone Wednesday.
