Wamsutta Family Update 03/16/2018
Posted on 03/20/2018
Good afternoon Wamsutta Families.  There is a ton going on here at WMS over the next month.  The snow days have made the scheduling even more compact, so please forgive the length and density of the following information:
Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  On paper this week is yet another reminder from Transportation about Fee For Service busing next year, as well as the 8th Annual Rebeckha Lynn Whitefield Field Hockey Clinic.  For our digital notices, there are many:  The first is our schedule for Term 3 After School Activities that begins Monday.  The second lists all the offerings from the Attleboro Rec Department for this summer.  The third includes info from the Attleboro Public Library, SMARTS Summer Institute, and a girls’ golf league.  The last is from Bridgewater State regarding summer science academies.
  1. Our PTO will meet next Tuesday at 6:30 in our library.  Please join us if you can.  This was rescheduled from last Tuesday.
  2. Other Upcoming Events:  Our Diversity Night is Wednesday the 21st at 6, our 8th Grade Lock-in is Friday the 23rd from 5:30 to 9:30, our Trivia Night is Tuesday the 27th at 6, and the Wamsutta Band and Glee Club is pleased to announce a performance on Thursday, April 5th at 7 PM.
  3. ASEPAC's workshop for this month will be Wednesday, March 28th.  The Federation For Children With Special Needs will be presenting at our meeting on Basic Rights In Special Education.  The general meeting will begin at 7 PM in our library and prior to the meeting at 6:30pm there is always parent support time.
  4. Despite the snow days, we still hope to send report cards home on the 21st.  If we can’t, we will send them home on the 22nd.
  5. Both the 8th grade field trip and the 5th Grade Healthy Choices Fair were cancelled when school was cancelled on Wednesday.  No word yet on when or if these events can be rescheduled.  If we can, I’ll let you know.
  6. Grade 6 students will have a presentation sponsored by the Bristol County District Attorney’s office on the responsible use of social media, bullying and cyberbullying on Friday, March 23rd.  If we have good feedback from teachers and students on this event, we may expand it to other grades next year.
  7. We will reschedule our Acts of Kindness activity that we missed Wednesday to next week.
Thank you as always.
