Wamsutta Family Update 01/12/2018
Posted on 01/12/2018
Good afternoon, Wamsutta Families.
Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  Flyers from SAGRA Field Hockey, Titans Youth Lacrosse, and the SMARTS Collaborative went home in students’ backpacks today.  The one digital notice this week is a notice regarding “Blue Steam Ahead” – an event open to the entire community on Thursday, February 15th at AHS.  It will feature Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math initiatives and projects from K-12.  More info is in the attachment, and we’ll send it home on paper next Friday.
  1. Our Patriots Spirit Day went well today, and we invite students to wear their Celtics gear on Tuesday in honor of Wamsutta Night at the Garden on Tuesday.  We sold out our allotment of tickets, and I hope all attendees will have fun.
  2. If you are still collecting Box Tops (thank you) you should know they are due to the school on the Friday before February break.
  3. We have our Curriculum Calendar posted for February here:  https://goo.gl/M8Yvxf and on the front page of our website.
  4. We will be sending home a form allowing students to bring their own device next Friday.  Our infrastructure is almost ready to support this pilot
  5. Midterm Progress Reports will be available in Aspen on next Thursday.
The 13th annual Faculty and Friends vs. 8th Grade Students Basketball Game will be held on Friday, January 26th in the Wamsutta gym. Doors open at 6:00. The game begins at 6:30. The game is Wamsutta's largest community event of the year. Tickets are $10.00 each and went on  sale during lunch beginning Monday, January 8th. Students should not wait until the last day to purchase tickets because this event sells out every year. Snacks and beverages will be available for sale. Raffle tickets will be sold for a variety of gift baskets during the game.
A grand prize raffle will be held at the end of the game. This year we're raffling a set of Powerbeats wireless headphones. Tickets are $3.00 each, books of 5 for $10.00. On Monday, January 8th each student received 2 books of raffle tickets. Sold/unsold tickets must be returned to the office no later than Wednesday, January 24th. The student who sells the most number of tickets will receive a Target gift card.
Thank you as always for your time and attention, and have a good three-day weekend.
