Wamsutta Family Update 01/18/2019
Posted on 01/18/2019

Good morning, Wamsutta families.  I have a brief but important update this week.

Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  The only thing going home on paper today is a notice from AYS for Spring Soccer.  I have no digital notices.

1.       Thank you to our students, staff, and families who came out for our Comedy and Magic Night last week.  It was our first attempt at this, and we hope to do more things like this in the future – not a fundraiser per se but just a fun night out for families.  We are in debt to our PTO volunteers for making it happen.

2.       The deadline to return the stubs for our 8th Grade Student/Faculty Basketball Raffle is Wednesday, January 30th.

UPCOMING DATES:

January 21                                                           No School – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – Observed

February 1                                                           8th Grade Student/Faculty Basketball @ 6 PM

February 6                                                           Welcome Class of 2023 @ AHS at 6PM

*Mandatory for 8thgraders and one parent/guardian

Blue Pride Night @ AHS at 6:30 PM

*7th and 8th Grade Students and Families Welcome

Lastly, I want to inform you of two retirements that were recently announced at both the PTO and School Council meetings.  Both Mr. Lamore and Mr. Dodge will retire at the end of June.  Mr. Lamore is in his 8th year as Assistant Principal here at WMS, and has been with the APS for over 20 years.  Mr. Dodge has been our music teacher and band director for 18 years.  Both educators have risen to the challenges of their respective roles:  Mr. Lamore as chief attendance officer and disciplinarian, and Mr. Dodge who instructs all 570+ students every week.  Please join me in thanking them for their service to our school and students.  We will begin a thorough search process for their replacements over the next two months.

Thank you as always for your time and attention.

Joseph Connor, WMS

Principal
