Wamsutta Family Update 02/14/2020
Posted on 02/14/2020

Good morning, Wamsutta Families.  I have a fairly brief update with lots of information in the attachments for you this week.  Happy Valentine's Day.

There are flyers going home on paper to all students from the Attleboro Arts Museum, the Winter Carnival flyer I sent digitally last week, and the permission slip for those students interested in the dance we will be hosting on the 28th.  Our digital notices include a flyer for Blue STEAM Ahead night at AHS, Girls’ Softball Information, the February Calendar from the Library, and a notice from Camp Invention’s summer program.

Other items:

1.       Our 8th grade scheduling process is complete.  I believe we are down to 1 student with an unresolved World language issue, and that is being dealt with by guidance at AHS.  I want to thank the kids, the teachers, and you for your help.  This year’s process was the smoothest yet.

2.       LANDYARDS AND IDS:  We are taking a new approach to the cost of lost IDs and lanyards.  Up until now, we have offered the first lost replacement for free, then charged $5 for the next, and so on.  We did this to attempt to provide a deterrent against loss.  This is clearly not working, so we are changing it up.  The first lost ID will continue to be free, and after that the IDs and lanyards will be replaced at cost:  $2 for an ID, $1 for a lanyard.  Let me know if you have any questions.

3.       Our Penny Wars will begin when we return from break.  Each grade level will have a bin in the Cafeteria to place coins and dollars.  Pennies count towards each grade totals positively, and anything else counts against the grade level total.  The wining grade level will get a pizza party.  This will run for a few weeks, and we’ll explain further at lunch with the kids.  This is a way to get rid of some of that stored up change.  Help us if you can.  All proceeds go directly to our PTO.

4.       SECOND NOTICE:  Our Dance has been rescheduled for Friday, February 28th from 2:20 - 4:15.  Students will need to bring back the signed permission slip, which will be given out in homerooms, before they can purchase a ticket. Tickets will cost $3.00 and will be sold during lunches starting on Monday, February 24th.  Snacks and drinks will be sold at the dance.  Please arrive promptly to pick up your child or have a ride pre-arranged. We ask that you come in to the gym lobby to sign your child out.
