Wamsutta Family Update 03/23/2018
Posted on 03/23/2018
Good morning Wamsutta Families.  I hope we are finally free of the winter.
Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  For 5th grade, all students received a flier for Camp Invention taking place at the end of June.  For 5th, 6th, and 7th grade, students received registration information for 2018 Summer ABACUS.  All grades received a flier for a summer reading skills program from Boston University and the Attleboro Rec Department’s Summer Brochure that I sent electronically last week.  Attached is also an invite to the Easter Egg Hunt that is scheduled for tomorrow at AHS.
  1. MCAS:  We are getting close.  In the next week or two, students will be provided multiple opportunities to participate in tutorials for the new computer-based testing and practice the tests themselves as well.  I will be meeting with students to go over their responsibilities during the tests.  A letter is attached outlining the basics of what I will be talking with them about.  In addition to my main points about getting a good night’s sleep, having a healthy breakfast, and trying their best, the letter highlights all the things that students cannot do during the test administrations.
The dates are as follows:
Grade 5 and 8 ELA:Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11
Grade 5 and 8 Math:Tuesday and Wednesday, May 1 and 2
Grade 5 and 8 Science:Tuesday and Wednesday, May 15 and 16
Grade 6 and 7 ELA:Wednesday and Thursday, April 25 and 26
Grade 6 and 7 Math:Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8 and 9
  1. Other upcoming events:  Our Trivia Night is Tuesday, the 27th at 6, and the Wamsutta Band and Glee Club is pleased to announce a performance on Thursday, April 5th at 7 PM.  We are still working on rescheduling our Diversity Potluck Dinner and other events.  When we have a final schedule, we will let you know.
  1. ASEPAC's workshop for this month will be Wednesday, March 28th.  The Federation For Children With Special Needs will be presenting at our meeting on Basic Rights In Special Education.  The general meeting will begin at 7 PM in our library and prior to the meeting at 6:30pm there is always parent support time.
  1. I’ve had a few questions about Fee-For-Service information you have been getting on paper and electronically the past weeks.  The first day you can actually register for FFS is April 3, and the registration period ends June 29th.  All pertinent info, including the application itself, can be found here:
  1. There will be no after school activities next Thursday, March 29th.
  1. There will be no school next Friday, March 30th
Thank you as always for your time and attention.
