Wamsutta Family Update 04/08/2020
Posted on 04/08/2020

Good morning Wamsutta students and families.

As my greeting indicates, this email, and future schoolwide updates, will be sent to both family contacts and the students themselves at their attleborops.net accounts.  The teachers will begin doing similarly, if they haven’t already.  We hope this cuts down on the forwarding of information within your households.  If you think your student does not recieve this, please let me know.  This email is short but important, and I will have another for you on Friday with next week’s remote learning plans.

First, I am linking the learning plans for this week again.  These were first published last Friday, but there are some students we haven’t seen yet, so I thought it might help if they had it directly.

Second, I am including three attachments.  One is an infographic that can help families plan for a successful remote learning experience.  One is an update from the APS nurses.  Last is a student and family resource guide to remote learning.  While all are worth a careful review, there is language in the resource guide I wanted to highlight for everyone.  At the end of the document, it states:

As we begin to provide Remote Learning Services due to our extended closure, we would like to make you aware that in some instances the video conference (Google Meet or Zoom) that your child will engage in, may be recorded and archived.

Please know that you have been notified of this information in the APS Disclaimer on Remote Online Learning Practices. The specific information about audio and video recording from the disclaimer is below:

You also understand and agree that the Attleboro Public Schools may audio and video record the Remote Online Learning Services it provides your child and this document constitutes both notice of such audio and video recording and your agreement to it.

I just wanted all students and families to know of this aspect of remote learning video conferencing.

That’s it for now.  Students, I hope you are all ok, and are having success with the assignments and learning opportunities that your teachers have offered.  Please know we would much rather have you in school than dealing with this.  Families, I hope you can find the patience to manage all this.

As always, I welcome your feedback and concerns.
