Wamsutta Family Update 04/12/2019
Posted on 04/12/2019

Good morning, Wamsutta families.

Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  Lots going home today on paper.  All students received their spring picture day packets.  Directions for purchasing them are included in the packet.  You are not required to purchase anything, but pictures that you do not wish to purchase are supposed to be returned.  All students also received a brochure for the Y summer programs.  5th graders also received a notice for the Y’s Healthy Kids Day, held on April 27th.  There are no digital attachments this week.

1.       The Rhode Island Writing Project is pleased to once again host its annual Summer Writing Camp from July 8-19 on the Rhode Island College campus for students in grades K-12. Their camp encourages students to be creative, develop their writing, and find their voices. The camp is staffed by experienced teachers from around the state who provide guidance and feedback to these young writers in a relaxed, nurturing environment. For more information and online registration, please see http://www.ric.edu/riwp/Pages/Summer-Writing-Camp.aspx.  You can also email riwritingproject@gmail.com.

2.       Our April Curriculum Calendar is posted.  You can find it on the front page of our website or here: http://bit.ly/2CsjPfc.

3.       Thanks to the many who have already registered for our Color Run.  To try to increase participation, the PTO is offering the following incentives:

A.  Each week we will check to see who raised the most money for THAT week!! That student will receive a $25 gift card of their choice. We will do this right up to the day of the event. Tomorrow will be the first winner!

B.  The grand prize for the Top fundraiser at the end will receive 2 free tickets to Six Flags. 2nd place Student will receive $50 and the 3rd place will receive student $25.

C.  The classroom who had the most participants at the end will receive either a pizza party or ice cream sundaes from Bliss. You will be able to choose! I will update at the end of each week! (Ms. Hill is already off to a great start with Ms. James on her heels!)

4.       Our monthly PTO was rescheduled until Tuesday the 23rd at 6:30.  With the above mentioned Color Run and end of year stuff (teacher appreciation week, MCAS Sundaes, etc.) we certainly could use the help.
