Wamsutta Family Update 04/17/2020

Wamsutta Family Update 04/17/2020
Posted on 04/17/2020

Good afternoon, Wamsutta students and families.  I have a notice from the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and the APS Nurses’ Newsletter attached.

1.       As a reminder, while we have provided a full week’s worth of student work in the attached and below Remote Learning Plans, the staff has tried to focus student’s online work on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.  We very much want to keep kids engaged in learning, and we also want them to get away from their screens, at least for a bit.

Grade 5

Grade 6

Grade 7

Grade 8

2.       Final Term 2 report cards are now available in the “Published Reports” tab in Aspen.

3.       Grades in T3:  While we await further clarity from the state as to when or if we return this year, we do know a few things about grades that we can share.

A.  Teachers have been noting who has been participating in remote learning, who has been submitting assignments, and giving students feedback on their work.  This will continue.

B.  Starting on the week of the 27th, teachers will begin putting scores in Aspen.  We are doing this so that families can get a sense of their student’s progress while we are out.  With so much going on in Google classroom and other platforms that are not easily accessible by families, it’s near impossible for families to keep track of how their children are doing, so we hope this helps.

C.  These scores will be unweighted, which means they will not be calculated in students’ GPAs.

D.  We are still working on figuring out how final T3 grades and year-end grades will be determined, but we hope an announcement from the Governor early next week will allow us to finalize this.

I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be this week.  As always, reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
