Wamsutta Family Update 05/11/2018
Posted on 05/11/2018
Good morning, Wamsutta Families.  We hope to see many of you this afternoon for our Color Run.  We have been blessed with good weather for our 3rd straight year!
Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  In backpacks today, we have a notice from the SMARTS Summer Institute and information about our PBIS program’s PawSox night on June 6th.  We did this for the first-time last year and it was really nice, as the kids who attended got to hear their name called before the game and trotted across the outfield as well.  A digital copy of the PawSox and SMARTS information is attached, as well as notices from the Summer Kids Eats Cafe/Attleboro Interfaith Collaborative program, the Summer Writing Camp at Rhode Island College, and information from Camp Ramsbottom and the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket.
  1. The Someone Special Dance scheduled for June 8th is in danger of being cancelled.  We have sold no tickets this week.  Tickets are available in the main office, and if you wish to attend, please purchase them early next week.  If our interest is still low by next Friday, we may have to cancel.
  2. Our last week of MCAS has Grade 5 and 8 Science on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 15 and 16.
  3. SECOND NOTICE:  On Friday, May 18th Girl Scout Troop 4994 and the Wamsutta Student Council will be co-hosting a Hawaiian-themed dance. It will be held in the school cafeteria from 5:30-8:00. In addition to celebrating the end of the school year, another purpose of the dance is to support the Ronald McDonald House. Admission for 5th graders will be kitchen items or snacks and 6th graders cleaning supplies. 7th and 8th graders are asked to donate toiletries. A $2.00 admission fee will also be accepted, 1 dollar of which will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.  Students can start bringing donations to school now, and will be given tickets in the week before the dance.  Students who wish to just buy a ticket for $2 can do so when they go on sale in the cafeteria the week before the dance.
  4. SECOND NOTICE:  Our National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 16th at 6 PM for our 8th graders.
  5. SECOND NOTICE:  Our Spring Book Fair will take place during the school day in the Library from May 18 through May 24th.
  6. SECOND NOTICE:  Our Spring Band Concert will be held in our cafetorium at 7 PM on Thursday, MAY 24th.
Lastly, next Friday morning you may see a police presence here in the morning.  Please do not be alarmed.  It is the APD’s High-Five Friday, where officers will be by to greet the students on their way in.  We are always thankful for the APD’s support of our students.
Thank you as always for your time an attention, and a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of our community’s Moms.
