Wamsutta Family Update 05/18/2018
Posted on 05/18/2018
Good afternoon, Wamsutta Families.  I want to first thank the many families and friends who chipped in to make our 3rd Color Run both a successful fundraiser (we raised over $7000!) and a wonderful afternoon for kids.  Some extra special thanks go to Jenn Corbett, Laura DeSimone, and Robert Fregault as the leaders of our PTO, without whom neither the Color Run or the many other field trips and activities for students would be possible.  As all of them will be entering the last year of their tenure next year, we will be in serious need of others to come to help.  Please contact me if you think you could devote some time and energy to our PTO next year.  We could really use the help.
Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  In backpacks today, we have a notice for a reading skills program from Boston University for grades 5, 6, and 7.  The digital notices are attached and include a notice for Bring a Parent to Lunch Day on Monday, June 11th, and a very compelling program from Junior Achievement for middle school girls.  The times and menu for the Bring a Parent to Lunch Day are included in the attachment, and I strongly advise any families of middle school girls to check out the Junior Achievement Program.  It is free and an incredible opportunity.
  1. The Someone Special Dance scheduled for June 8th is in still in danger of being cancelled.  We have sold 9 tickets.  Tickets are still available in the main office, and will be on sale in the cafeteria on Tuesday and Thursday of next week as well.  We will see if we can make this happen with one more week of sales.
  2. The Institute of Responsible Online and Cellphone Communication will be here next Wednesday to present to all grades.  It should come to no one’s surprise that many of our students struggle with appropriate and safe online habits, and we hope this will help all our students make good decisions in the digital world many navigate.
  3. Our last day of after school clubs and late buses will be next Thursday, May 24th.
  4. SECOND NOTICE:  Our Spring Book Fair will take place during the school day in the Library from May 18 through June 24th.
  5. SECOND NOTICE:  Our Spring Band Concert will be held in our cafetorium at 7 PM on Thursday, May 24th.
Lastly, two notes for 8th grade.  The 8th grade ceremony will be held at 9:30 on Thursday, June 21st.  Doors will be open at 9:15 (please use our gym foyer entrance) and there will be refreshments afterwards in our café with a dismissal at 11:30. We hope to see you there.  For those moving on to AHS and interested in sports, the Attleboro High School 8th Grade Sports Meeting will be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 6th in the Bray Auditorium.  Athletes and parents interested in signing up for fall sports should attend.
Thank you as always for your time and attention.
