Wamsutta Family Update 05/30/2019
Posted on 05/31/2019

Good morning, Wamsutta families.  We have a great deal of information for you this week.

Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  On paper, all students will receive a notice for a Summer Reading and Writing program from Boston University, another notice from our transportation department about FFS busing, and an envelope with raffle tickets (more on this below).  For our digital notices, we have a flyer that has information from Attleboro Youth Bowling, Camp Invention, and the Attleboro Summer Eats Program.  We also have a third notice for free enrichment programs running this summer at Coelho Middle School for student currently in grades 5-7.  There are lots of interesting options, and the forms can be filled out and returned here to WMS.

  1. Every student is being given 2 raffle tickets in an envelope today.  This is our last fundraiser for the PTO this year. We are raffling off 4 season passes with free parking for the season to Six Flags.  There are two tickets in the envelope and it is $5.00 for the two of them.  If you are interested in this raffle you can simply write the student’s name on the back of the both tickets with $5 and return it to their homeroom teacher in the envelope it came in. If you would like more tickets you can get them in the office.
  2. Our student showcase is this Thursday beginning at 6 PM.  All grade levels and content areas will be presenting work from this school year.  Last year was our first try at this, and it was a huge success.  We really hope most of our families can at least pop in to see the projects and presentations that highlight student work here at WMS.
  3. Wamsutta Middle School will be having a Spring Book Fair from May 31st to June 6th.  There are many good books for sale and also some fun items.  All proceeds from the fair go directly to the Library.  Students will be given time to attend the fair over the next week.  Your support is appreciated.
  4. Our Summer Reading program will be outlined for students with their teachers on June 4th.  You should expect a pamphlet (on blue paper) outlining the student choices and expectations.  I will post digital copies next week, and staff from the Attleboro Public Library will be by on the 10th to discuss the program with students.  Grade 8 students can expect information on Summer Reading from the High School directly.
  5. Lastly, the District is in receipt of a grant to provide more Social Emotional Learning Supports for students as well as families.  Please take a moment to fill out the survey so that we might cater educational presentations and support groups to topics that are meaningful for families.  It only takes a minute and we could really use your input: http://bit.ly/2JOzA3s
