Wamsutta Family Update 06/12/2020

Wamsutta Family Update 06/12/2020
Posted on 06/12/2020

Good morning WMS students and families.

This is my second to last update for the school year.  Much of it is a repetition from last week.  I will have a brief one next Friday.

I have again linked the learning plans from last week below.  At this point, students should be working on a few selected summer enrichment activities that teachers identified and are providing help with.  After that, students and families are welcome to select activities from the summer enrichment packet to keep students' brains sharp over the summer.  I am aware the enrichment packets are lengthy and a bit overwhelming, but please know: When in doubt about what students should be doing over the summer, try your best to have students read every day.  It is the best insurance against summer learning loss that will be compounded by the events since March.  Students should be able to select things that are of high interest to them as the suggestions for reading are extensive.

In other news:

1.   Term 3 grades are now viewable in Aspen under the “Academics” top tab and year end grades can be seen using the “Transcript” side tab.  You will get an email to view Report Cards next week.  If you have any questions about grades or anything related, please let me know.

2.  We still have about 50 Chromebooks that have yet to be returned.  We will expect them next week on the grade level item return days.  You will get an email from Mr. Heal today if you are in possession of a Chromebook that needs to be returned.  This does not apply to students involved in summer programming provided by the APS.  If you have a question on whether you should return or keep a Chromebook, just let me know.

3.  Our nurse has contacted many of the families who had medication in her office.  If you’ve spoken to her, and requested medication returned, we have it for you when you come in next week.  If you have not connected with her and want your medication returned, please email her at rdeshowitz@attleboroschools.com and we will have it ready.  What we don’t have already boxed up for you are mostly Epi-Pens that expire soon, and we will keep those (and anything else) in the office over the summer if we don't hear from you.

Lastly, the schedule for next week is below.

Families are advised to park in our lot, then send just their masked and socially distancing student with their items (Library books, textbooks, Chromebooks if applicable, etc.) to be returned to the Gym/Nurses Entrance.  They will be guided through the building to drop off library books and other items and end at their lockers to pick things up.  It is our intention to get everything back to you on these days:  Yearbooks, Square One Art items, and medications from the nurses’ office included.
