Wamsutta Family Update 11/30/2018
Posted on 11/30/2018

Good morning, Wamsutta families.  I’d like to start by thanking the families who were able to participate in our Potluck Dinner last night.  Although a small event, by all accounts it was a wonderful one.  We’ll try again in a few months and see if we can’t get a greater percentage of families to participate to continue to build positive relationships within the WMS community.

Backpack Alert and Digital Notices:  Only one thing going home on paper today and it is important.  Information on our Parent Conferences were delivered to all students in all grades today.  Please read the letter and get the bottom half of the sheet back to the homeroom teacher as soon as you can, preferably Monday.  Your child will receive a green appointment card back to confirm your time as soon as we can schedule everyone next week.  For our attachments, we have flyers from  MA Foster, All Around Gymnastics, a vacation program from SMARTS called “World of the Weird”, and the Holiday Happening sponsored by Attleboro Parks and Rec.

1.       Our Holiday Vendor Fair and Bake Sale will tomorrow in our cafe from 9 AM – 2 PM.  Join us if you can.

2.       Term 1 report cards will go home with all students on Wednesday, December 5th.

3.       Next Thursday, December 6th is the last day we will be collecting non-perishable food items for our Holiday Can Drive.  Participation has been wonderful so far, but we are hoping one final push next week will help us surpass our goal.  Send goods in to your child’s homeroom if you can.

4.       We are very pleased to announce the continuation of Wamsutta's Junior Conservation Commissioner Program for our 5th graders that begins next week.  We lost funding for this, and without the efforts of Ms. Dawson, the Audubon Society, and the Attleboro Conservation Commission in pursuing grants, we would have not been able to continue this program.  A special thanks to all involved is in order.

5.       Our December Curriculum Calendar is up.  It can be found at http://bit.ly/2CsjPfc and can always be found on the front page of the WMS website.  Again, our goal is to provide a brief overview of the content and skills of our coursework and serve as a launching point for the conversations you have with your children about what they are learning in school.

6.       The Student Council will be selling CandyGrams at lunches from December 5-12.  These are candy canes that students buy to send to other students during the holiday season.  They cost $1 for 2 candy canes and will be delivered late in the week before our break.  All proceeds support student activities.
