Wamsutta Family Update 12/06/2019
Posted on 12/06/2019

Good afternoon, Wamsutta Families.

BACKPACK ALERT AND DIGITAL NOTICES:  We have flyers from the Attleboro Public Library and the SMARTS Collaborative attached, as well as information about a presentation for families on December 10th in Taunton about online safety.  A modified version of the presentation will be given to our 6th and 7th graders next week.  We have more on that below.  We also have a notice for families about the status of ALICE training in the district.  You will hear more about this in January.  On paper, there is another notice from the SMARTS Collaborative, as well as the Trimester 1 report cards for all students.

1.       Our parent conferences are next week.  If you have trouble making an appointment, please contact your child’s teacher or our main office.

2.       Wamsutta’s Student Council has ended their can drive to benefit the Hebron Food Pantry.  Thanks to your generous support we collected over 4,000 cans!  In addition to benefitting local families in need, we will also receive a $1,000 for our school from the Feinstein Foundation for meeting our drive goals.  Thanks to all who were able to participate.

3.       On Wednesday, our 6th and 7th graders will have an assembly with IROC2, the Institute of Responsible Online and Cellphone Communication.  The talk is titled “Public and Permanent” and we hope it will educate our students that despite what various apps promise, everything they post online or text to peers ultimately becomes viewable by everyone and does not go away.  We hope it can make a dent in the issues surrounding appropriate online decision making that our students struggle with.
