Wamsutta Family Update 12/15/2017
Posted on 12/15/2017
Good morning, Wamsutta Families.
Backpack alert and digital notices: Attached as well as passed out on paper to all 7th and 8th graders today are flyers and registration forms for an after-school activity starting after break.  It is a game design course run by an outside vendor called Tinker & Create.  This is a great opportunity for our kids, but space is limited.  To be eligible to register, the form must be passed in to the Principal’s office on Monday.  We may have to have a lottery if Monday’s registration exceeds 20 students.  Please have a look and fill it out if your student is interested.  Other Trimester 2 after-school activities will be published next Thursday before we leave for break.  The other digital notice is from ASEPAC regarding a presentation on Friday, January 12th from 9-11 AM at the Attleboro Public Library.  The topic is effective strategies to deal with anxiety-related and oppositional behaviors.  I happened to be at a conference yesterday where I heard from this speaker, and I found her to be both very funny and informative.  If you are dealing with these kinds of behaviors, you may wish to attend.
In other news:
  1. In mid- to late-January, we will begin allowing those student with Chromebooks and Laptops at home to bring them in and use them at the teacher’s discretion for educational ends.  Please see my attached letter for more detailed information.
  2. Parents of 5th graders should know that our DARE Graduation is currently scheduled for Friday, January 5th at 9 am.  All families are welcome.
  3. Next week, your child’s Science teachers will be letting them know about the Cambridge Science Festival’s Curiosity Challenge.  It’s a contest that we have done for the past two years, and we have had winners each year. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
  4. There will be no after-school activities next Thursday, December 21st
