Wamsutta Family Update 8.30.17
Posted on 08/31/2017

Good afternoon all.

We have just concluded a very successful first day here at WMS.  The busses were a little late arriving so your bussed students may be a few minutes late on their way home today.  We ask for your patience.

Just a few quick notes to keep you in the loop this week.

There are quite a few papers and forms coming home with your students today.  Some of from your child's teachers, and some are from our office.  As far as the office is concerned, please be on the lookout for:

1.  Grade 5 students have been given Aspen logins and passwords.  Students in all other grades recieved generic information about Aspen, and can contact our office with any other Aspen login or password questions.

2.  Grades 5 and 6 students have a letter about Accelerated Reader from our District Humanities Coordinator, Donna Goldstein.

3.  Handbooks and planners were distributed today.  The Handbook Acknowledgement Form from the handbook has been enlarged and a copy has been provided for you to sign.  Please review the Handbook and sign and return the Acknowledgement Form.  Students with $3 were provided with planners today, and will be for sale from your teacher until next Friday.  After that, they will be available from the office.

4.  Student Emergency Information (yellow) and Emergency Form Update.  Parents can choose to do this on Aspen or on paper on the yellow form.  Every family should fill out the white form letting us know they either did it online or did it on paper - and, if completed on paper, we would expect the yellow form back as soon as you can.

5.  Transportation rules and regulations:  Worth a quick review even if your child does not regularly take the bus.

6.  Free and reduced lunch application:  Please return this information quickly if you wish to participate.

7.  Over the counter medical permission and medical information sheet.  Again, do what you can to return this information to us quickly.

8.  There will be no school on Friday, September 1, or Monday, Spetmber 4.

Lastly, our Curriculum Night has been moved again.  It will be held on Wednesday, Septmber 27th at 6 PM.  We are in the process of making sure all of our calendars to make sure they are accurate.  I will mention this again next week as a reminder.  I apologize again for the confusion.

We hope the day was as successful for your children as it appeared to be from our perspective.  If you feel this was not the case, please let me know.  Enjoy the Labor Day weekend.

Respectfully submitted,

Joseph Connor, Principal
